Scarecrows

Today we got together with our friends for a scarecrow playdate! Bubba helped a little, but he was really more interested in playing with all his friends. These scarecrows were really simple. My hubby made us the frames using some scrap lumber he had laying around & my friend *L* made the faces out of fabric. Then all we had to do was stuff it full of hay. We used some 2T clothing that Bubba has outgrown. I think it turned out super cute!

Here are a couple shots of Bubba helping me stuff our scarecrow :)

A cute scarecrow just in time for Thanksgiving :)

Letter A

wow, where has summer gone?!?! we have been extremely busy this summer and are looking forward to the arrival of fall/winter! (i am itching for christmas music already!) our summer has been filled with lots of cooking out, swimming, trips to disney & playing with our friends.

recently, we have started the alphabet & Bubba has gotten really excited over learning his letters. (which makes me VERY happy!). Each letter is accompanied by a song, an activity, a craft & a snack featuring the letter. At the end of the day, he was going around the house singing & hunting for A's!

fishing for A's

gluing aluminum on the letter A

having an 'A' snack (apple juice, almonds, alphabits, apples, apple jacks)

We are very excited about learning the whole alphabet with our friends!!

a rainbow on a rainy day

I recently came across a FABULOUS blog!! It is filled with soo many fun and easy crafts and ideas. If you're looking for some great ideas, you should definitely check out Pink and Green Mama.

I saw this idea for a Rainbow Rice Box and knew this would solve our rainy day blues. We took her suggestion of food coloring & hand sanitizer.... annnnnd VIOLA! we had rainbow rice in about 10 minutes. Bubba had such a great time picking his colors and then squishing the bags to mix it all up.

What I really loved was that as Bubba played with the rice he was telling me the colors! He spent about 2 hours playing with this box... quite an attention holder! and for the past week, he's asked for it at least once a day. He also was very excited that he was able to use small toys, cupcake molds and spoons.

We spent the afternoon burying cars, dragons... a barrel of monkeys joined the fun & Bubba even filled up the cupcake molds to make some pretend cupcakes. All in all a great rainy day activity.

Summer is around the corner!!

So i've totally forgotten to update this blog... but hope to start making it at least a weekly thing.

We have been pretty busy the last couple months. We've gone to lots of playdates with our PALS & even celebrated Hubby's birthday! A friend of a friend made me a custom cake: a chicken with long legs (since we call Hubby 'chicken legs'.) She was even awesome enough to make it red velvet... it was the best chicken cake i've ever eaten!!

One of the great things we've discovered about living in Florida are the U-Pick fields!! We've been able to take Bubba to pick strawberries & blueberries! He was so thrilled to be out in the fields & the owners encouraged him to snack as he picked. We're hoping to make one more trip for more berries before the season ends.

Love is in the air!!

yep, it's that time again.. Valentine's Day!! Saw in my updates that 1+1+1=1 posted really neat love printables... so i turned to my Cricut machine to get some hearts cut out real quick. :-) I did use the 1Corinthians verse printout she offered & then I wrote an attribute on each heart. Then Bubba used the hearts to make a pretty border around the verse. I absolutely love it! & to finish it off, a cute LOVE sign :-)

 Here's what our art wall looks like so far

Raising a Rock Star!!

As I've been surfing the blog world, I came across this really neat blog called "Raising Rock Stars". I've been wanting to start Bible stories with Bubba for awhile, but didnt really know where to start... well, this blog changes all that! Just click on a link & you're off!! If you'd like to learn more about this great idea, just click the link -->  Raising Rock Stars!

We've spent the past week & a half learning about Creation & The Fall of Adam & Eve. Using the resources provided, I printed off some amazing coloring pages. We even started on a bible verse! (Totally Tots - ABC verses) I am soo in love with the fact that while I am teaching Bubba a bible verse, I am also working on a letter of the alphabet!

We picked up this really neat book in VA called "Let Your Light Shine: a story about helping others" (based on Matthew 5: 15-16). It's an adorable story about a lighthouse that helps others in times of need.. i love that there's a button to push that causes the lighthouse to flash it's light & it plays "this little light of mine" *side note - the music can get obnoxious on long car rides from VA to FL.... i dont know what i was thinking!!

So for both lessons I read David the story & then we had coloring pages to go along with the story, but I thought it would be really neat to make something to hang on our "art wall" each time we complete a lesson.
So we made a world for Creation

I love this! Bubba was very into putting the pieces of "land" where he thought they should be. He even moved one piece four times before deciding it was in the right spot!

and an apple tree for The Fall of Adam & Eve

 This was an interesting masterpiece to watch being created... Bubba was very picky about the leaves.. He only wanted 1 leaf on each branch & he made sure they were all on the end of the branch. (oh the mind of a 2 year old!) & that leaf in the middle?? apparently he thought my Cricut should have made an extra branch :-)

Our Bible verse we learned this week was "Keep me as the apple of your eye" Psalm 17:8a

I am so excited about starting our next lesson: Noah's Ark!!

Our very first Muffin Tin Monday!!!

So I've been checking out this cool idea: Muffin Tin Monday. Up until now, I just haven't felt creative enough to get into it, but when I saw that the theme was Dr Suess.. well, I knew I just had to do it this week!! So here we go! Our very first Muffin Tin Monday!!

Our theme is "The Lorax".. one of our favorite books!
* Truffula Trees (toast w/ butter.. i had 2, but Bubba snuck one)
* gluppity-glup & schloppity-schlop (strawberry yogurt w/ crushed oreos)
* Truffula fruits (fruit snacks)
* Humming Fish (gold fish)
* block with sign "unless" - apple juice in a recyclable container :-)

Bubba has gotten extremely picky in his eating, we're in that terrible 2 stage.. but he sat right down & dug in!! He was so excited! We will definitely be doing this again!

On your mark.. get set... BLOG!

I've finally decided to enter the blog world!

This blog will mainly focus on day to day activities that I do with my son "Bubba"(2).. but you might spot my hubby every once in awhile. :-) We love arts & crafts! Painting is our favorite activity, even though it usually ends up on us more than the paper sometimes!

Check back often, as we're just getting warmed up!!
